Some patients may need further, more detailed diagnostic testing that may require an additional visit. Pueblo Radiology offers state of the art diagnostic ultrasound with Doppler technology for accurate and correct diagnosis and mapping of your venous disease. These are extensive diagnostic exams and are usually billed to insurance company if there is a medical indication.

    Endovascular Laser Closure
Pueblo Radiology offers the most recent and cutting-edge breakthrough in treatment of large varicose veins. Under local anesthesia and ultrasound guidance, a small catheter is inserted into a vein in the thigh. A laser fiber is then threaded into the catheter and directed to the exact location with ultrasound guidance; heat generated from the laser closes the vein, permanently sealing it off. The procedure takes about one hour.

    Advantages of Laser Closure:

    • Relief of symptoms
    • Less invasive; not a surgical procedure
    • Little downtime, back on your feet same day, back to work the next day
    • Same day, outpatient procedure
    • Only local or regional anesthesia needed
    • Little to no scarring

    Ultrasound-guided Sclerotherapy
Pueblo Radiology offers the best imaging possible for guidance of treatment by the use of ultrasound. The Doctor injects a sclerotherapy solution into the abnormal vein. By following the path of the solution with ultrasound the doctor targets affected areas to collapse these veins.

    Advantages of Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy:

    • Treats problem vein directly at the source without surgery
    • No downtime
    • No anesthesia needed
    • Long-lasting results
    • Extremely effective
    • No scarring

    Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Pueblo Radiology offers this advanced procedure to successfully remove large surface varicosities. During Ambulatory Phlebectomy, the diseased veins are pulled up and delicately removed through very small micro-punctures that do not require stitches. This procedure is often a more efficient way to treat surface veins than using multiple sclerotherapy sessions.

    Advantages of Ambulatory Phlebectomy:

    • No stitches
    • Virtually no scarring
    • Only local anesthesia needed
    • Long-lasting results

    Compression Hose
Although compression hose does not treat the cause of vein disease, it often provides relief from its symptoms by preventing blood from pooling in the leg veins, thereby helping overall circulation. Compression hose also increase the long-term effectiveness of all vein treatments.

Because vein disease is progressive and has no cure, we recommend regular follow-up visits after every type of treatment.
